Capture Exhibition in University Centre Milton Keynes

June 2010

The exhibition presented explorative cinematic work, experimental films, 3D models and abstract images. Together with some of my colleagues from University I was responsible for staging and fundraising. 

Since models and visuals held different colours and shapes, we decided to keep the staging design simple. Great solution of the simplicity became white stools with mirror squares on the top/underneath the models. 

Visitors could easily walk around and get impressed by models from every possible angle.

This exhibition showcases design work derived by a process abstraction from 3 films: The Rear Window by Alfred Hitchcock, The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind by Michel Gondry (which I personally chose as my source of inspiration) and The Darjeeling Limited by Wes Anderson.

Choosing one of the above mentioned films, students had to create and capture their own short movies based on the main 'values' of the original film. 

Students had to take a static image from their own films and depict this image in the form of a 3D model, which when completed was then hand-drawn and made into a visual image - both which could be seen in the gallery.

Yayoi Kusama

YAYOI KUSAMA EXHIBITION - TATE MODERN

Yayoi Kusama is probably the best-known artist from Japan. I was doing a research about her large-scale installations during my studies in Uni, so when I found out there is exhibition of all her preliminary work, I had to set on train and go to check it out. 

The exhibition showcases her paintings, sculptures, drawings, collages and as well the immersive large-scale installations, which I was the most excited about and I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed at all (:

It's unfortunate I couldn't take any photos of her work inside the exhibition, so here are only teasing photos of the cafe in front of the entrance. 

I personally recommend Room12 - I'm Here, but Nothing. The room is all covered in psychedelic polka dots, which signify Kusama's hallucinatory visions.

And in the last room, my favourite installation: Infinitive Mirror Room. Please go and check it out, it's definitely worth it ;)
